GES/MJT parents, due to a bus driver shortage, the Giraffe bus students will be returning home on the Horse or Fox bus starting today and will be arriving up to 35 minutes later. Morning routes will not change. The My Ride K-12 App has been updated for your reference. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We need bus drivers!
Are you semi-retired and looking to make a difference? Ready to start a new career proudly driving a big yellow bus that says Granville Central Schools? Not afraid of a little weather? Want to take our teams to away games and bring them home safe? Granville CSD is looking for a few good bus drivers who want to stick with us and our kids. We train!
We offer generous benefits, school hours, plenty of holidays, NYS retirement and an opportunity to be a mentor and encouraging person to a bus load of kiddos.
Our schools, community and school families need you! Please visit "Now Hiring" on the GranvilleCSD.org website for details and contact info for applying to be a bus driver or bus monitor. Granville families, please spread the word!

Thank you for your understanding. (Want to drive for us? We train! Visit "Now Hiring" at GranvilleCSD.org)

Meet Barb's Bench - A tribute to one of our beloved Granville Elementary custodians that passed away, and a new addition to the GES grounds.
According to Ms. Pilch, a Fifth Grade Teacher at GES, "Barbara Varney was a custodian here at GES who was well respected and loved by students and adults in the building. She was a very kind person and always willing to help others. Barb passed away in 2023 and it was very sad for those of us who knew her. To honor her memory, we gathered support from our community and staff: The bench was donated to us by Telescope; Our maintenance people poured the cement foundation and installed it; and we took up a donation for flowers and the plaque from staff."
Thank you to our staff and community for celebrating Ms. Varney's life and work. Barb's Bench was installed in the spring and the plaque was affixed in September.
Come say hello to Barb's Bench sometime and take a picture with your kids in celebration of her life and service to Granville CSD school community.

Dear School Families and Staff,
As you may be aware, there have been a series of false threats happening to schools in the Capital Region this month, as well as across New York State. The threats appear to be recycled or similar to those around the state.
These types of threats are called Swatting. According to the Dept of Education, "Swatting is defined as a false report of an ongoing emergency or threat of violence intended to prompt an immediate tactical law enforcement response. Swatting is not a new threat; it has evolved over the last decade or so and includes a range of tactics and techniques used to cause false public alarm and divert law enforcement resources to a hoax threat."
Granville School District has yet to be a target of such hoax threats this school year; however, we are prepared for the potential of that occurring. We take any threat very seriously and will follow all of our emergency protocols to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Those who believe these threats to be a prank should understand that they have serious repercussions in terms of criminal charges.
While these threats are a hoax in nature, they are incredibly disruptive as we must follow all emergency protocols with any and all threats to our schools.
We understand that these events can be unsettling, and we want to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We encourage open communication among families and staff—please feel free to reach out to your building principal, or myself, with any questions or concerns.
Let’s remain vigilant and united as a community. Together, we can ensure a safe and nurturing environment for our children to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Tom McGurl
