Good Afternoon!
Great things are happening at Granville Jr/Sr High:
Our Granville School District PTO is leading the way by refreshing our Care Closet that is located in the Jr. High Guidance office. If you would like to contribute or learn more, here is the link to their PTO Facebook Post. The Care Closet is a place our 7-12 students can shop for free clothing and personal care items to fill in the gaps when in need.
For questions about the Care Closet, please contact our Community School Coordinator at krozell@granvillecsd.org. If you see a PTO volunteer, don't forget to thank them! If you would like to volunteer with the PTO, they welcome guardians and community members and you can find their monthly meeting dates in the District Calendar on our website or in the District App.
Next week, the National Honor Society is sponsoring the Coins for the Holidays Fundraiser. Funds raised will be donated to the Operation Santa Claus Program, which works in collaboration with area school districts to provide clothing and food to district families in need during the holiday season. If interested in donating coins, collection boxes will be located within the main office, in addition, National Honor Society students will be within the cafeteria during lunch periods.
Here is the link to the the District Calendar for all event details. We recommend checking the calendar once per week, as it's updated weekly.

We Need Your Help
Please Arrive on Time
Did you know that being 10 minutes late a day equals missing 50 minutes of class each week?Wow!
Encourage your student to arrive to school 10-15 minutes early and take advantage of our free breakfast program to fuel up for the day. No registration required.
Remind your student to set those alarms and prepare the night before for school with this checklist, especially if you're not home in the mornings or evenings.
Contact our guidance counselors if you would like additional support and we will work with you. Thank you!

Career Planning
Granville CSD can help your student build a career that they will be proud of.
Start early and encourage your student to talk to guidance about their options - be it in the skilled trades, the Telescope program, SUNY Adirondack, the many vocational training programs at BOCES or a 4-year college.
Our students can also start earning vocational or college credit while in high school - a huge savings!
It all starts with showing up on time and being ready to participate in school.
Try This: Ask your student to take this career assessment from SUNY Adirondack to get a feel for what they're interested in and how it relates to finding a good job. When your student can see the point of school (for example, a pathway to a great job, independence and helping their family), they become much more interested. Bring your results to guidance to discuss ideas.
See you next week!
