Student Tips from Successful Jr/Sr High Students

1) Create a Dashboard for your Chromebook and/or Mobile Device - A student dashboard is much like a car dashboard. It's all the things you need to reference regularly to get you where you want to go. Students, in your Chromebook bookmarks bar, save the following school tools to keep yourself organized and ready to take advantage of opportunities: 1) your eSchool Student Portal, 2) your Google Classroom, 3) your school Google Email log in to check email, 4) Classlink, 5) the District Calendar for upcoming events, and 6) for 7th and 8th graders, your homework and test schedule link (ask any 7/8 teacher for it if you don't have it). Check these once or twice per week. Pick a day like every Sunday and set a reminder in your mobile device to check your dashboard links to help you get ready for the week ahead. You can do the same thing on your mobile device and create a folder on your home screen with direct links to all of the above. Alternatively, can find most of these links on the Jr/Sr High website (here is the link), under "menu" then "students".

2) Create a ONE PLACE Reminder System - Students, decide one way to remind yourself of upcoming assignments, tests and quizzes that has the ability to check off items as you complete them. Relying only on memory is a recipe for forgetting things. There are a variety of ways to do this and you may need to try a few ways until you find the right one that works for your unique brain. This can be as simple as special section of your daily school binder that you call "action steps". It can be actively using a Google Calendar and jotting down due dates. It can be a free Notes application, a notebook, or printed planner of your choice that is easily found at the local drugstore or office supply store, or a free reminder app like Google Keep.
