Good afternoon, this is Tom McGurl, Granville Superintendent with an important message regarding the district’s response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

As you may be aware, throughout the holiday recess, the NYS Department of Health, Governor Hochul, and state health commissioner Dr. Bassett have all released guidance memos that address potential new protocols related to school districts and COVID 19. Included within these messages was a statement that over 37 million rapid tests have been ordered by the state and that these tests will be delivered to each school district for use and distribution.

At this time our region has not received any of the ordered tests and we do not anticipate receipt until early next week. Once we receive the tests, additional information on how the tests will be utilized and distributed will be provided.

It is important to note that a negative test is not required for students to return to school on Monday, January 3rd. However, if your student is displaying any COVID-like symptoms or is not feeling well, students, faculty, and staff are still required to follow the NYS DOH algorithm for return to school.

Hello,

As you may be aware, Washington County is experiencing another spike in COVID 19 cases. Unfortunately, Granville is as well. Due to a lack of transportation staff, the Granville Central School District will be transitioning to a hybrid learning on Tuesday November 9th, Wednesday November 10th, and Friday November 12th. There are no classes on Thursday November 11th in celebration of Veterans Day.

Under this model, students who can be dropped off at school for in-person instruction, should do so.

Campus Drop Off Times Begin At:

MJT- 7:50 am
GES- 8:05 am
Jr/Sr- 7:45 am

Campus Pick Up Times Begin At:

MJT- 2:15 pm
- 2:15-2:45 - K and 1 will be dismissed on Lee Road
- 2:45-3:15 - Grade 2 and 3 will be on the CAFETERIA SIDE of the building
- **Grades 2 and 3 Siblings can be dismissed with the other sibling in grades K or 1 on Lee Road
GES- 2:55 pm
Jr/Sr- 2:25 pm

Students from GES and MJT, whose parents need an earlier drop off time, may be dropped off at the Jr/Sr Main Courtyard at 7:20. These students will be supervised in the high school gym and will be shuttled by bus to MJT for the start of the day. GES students will be walked by supervisors to GES from the high school gym for the start of the day.

Students who are unable to be dropped off will need to attend remotely via Google links that will be provided by your child’s teacher or building administrator. Students that attend in-person or remotely will be marked as present for attendance purposes. If you are a family that needs a hotspot to connect remotely, due to a lack of internet service, please contact your child’s building’s main office to coordinate picking one up.

At present, we anticipate returning to our normal operating procedure on Monday November 15th. If that is not possible, an additional notice will be provided.

Students that attend the following programs will have transportation provided under the hybrid model. The transportation department will be in contact with any special transportations runs both in and out of district to make arrangements.

Good evening,

Due to a lack of transportation staff, the Granville Central School District will be transitioning to remote learning on Friday, November 5th. All staff should report tomorrow and transition to your building's remote learning plans or supervisor's plans for the day.

Students that are enrolled in an all-day, out-of-district placement will attend as normal. A separate call will be made to those individuals from the transportation department.

We anticipate returning to in-person learning on Monday, November 8th. Should that change, and additional notice will be provided.

The Granville School District was informed this evening that individuals on two bus runs tested positive for Covid. Because of this, we are asking that students on those runs student remain home tomorrow until contact tracing can be completed.

Impacted students will be notified by Robocall tonight. The building principals will be notified that identified students will not be in attendance on Tuesday, September 21st and that they will be joining remotely. We will notify you with more information tomorrow. Thank you.

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately, we are continuing to see COVID positivity rates spiking across Washington County. As of Sunday, the numbers were over 8%. As a reference point, 2+% was our former reference point for serious concern last year.

The new process and procedure for contact tracing and notification are cumbersome and time-consuming. The county is overwhelmed, and our staff is working all hours trying to keep students and staff safe in school and notified of any possible issues as fast as possible. As always, we want our information to first and foremost be accurate and as timely as possible.
As a result of the increased positivity rate, we are making some temporary changes to our operational procedures. I apologize in advance, and I sincerely hope that these adjustments are only temporary. These changes will begin on 9/14/21.

Buildings are closed to the public during the day and after school. Should you need to contact the school, please do so by phone. If an in-person meeting is required, it will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
All large staff meetings move to virtual unless discussed with my office in advance. Pre-scheduled GSSA meeting for this week will be allowed, as will the first mem Staff must remain in the building for the meetings.
Conferences and meetings at other schools should be avoided. Please see your building principal to discuss any plans you may have had that need to be adjusted.
All staff/break rooms are closed until further notice.
Student functions such as dances, team dinners, etc., will be postponed for the time being. A final decision on Halloween parades will be made as the event gets closer.
Open house events for the year will be transitioning to a virtual format, similar to last year.
Field Trips are postponed at this time.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, and I remain hopeful these restrictions will be short-lived.
